Above are the headlines we never want to read. Below is a quote from Casey Gwinn, Esq., President of Alliance for HOPE International and Co-Director of Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention
“The most dangerous domestic violence offenders strangle their victims. The most violent rapists strangle their victims. We used to think all abusers were equal. They are not. Our research has now made clear that when a man puts his hands around a woman, he has just raised his hand and said, “I’m a killer.” They are more likely to kill police officers, to kill children, and to later kill their partners. So, when you hear “He choked me”, now we know you are the edge of a homicide.”
This is the very foundation in which we build our programs. Strangulation is a precursor to murder. We must have our law enforcement officers, medical staff, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and advocates well educated about not only strangulation but the phycology of the malignant narcissist and the conditioned victim. Per the CDC and the latest data released July 2017, that half of all homicides of women were related to domestic violence. Another alarming find by Everytown for Gun Safety says this “Here’s the reality: more than half of the women killed with guns in the U.S. are murdered by their partners. Every month, 50 women are shot and killed in the U.S. by a current or former boyfriend or spouse. We researched mass shootings between January 2009 and January 2013 and found that 57 percent of mass shootings involved a partner or other close family member that was killed”.
What are training program provides is not only an in-depth look at the psychology of the malignant narcissist and conditioned victim but real-life case studies and testimonies. We provide the most up to date information on strangulation as well as documentation and photography techniques. Sergeant Mark Worden from Gilbert, Arizona said “I wish that every officer in America knew that strangulation can turn to homicide in roughly 15 seconds”.
We are committed to providing this education to the 14 counties we serve in Northwest Ohio so that officers can not only better assist victims and prosecute abusers but to also be more aware of the warning signs of these murderers and potential mass murderers.
